David W. Mcrobie

David W. McRobie, 64, adored husband and father, sadly passed away in an unforeseen accident in the family garden at his home in Akron on Monday, June 24th, 2024.

David was born on November 28th, 1959 in Barberton, OH to the late Wayne and Barbara Lee (Schlemmer) McRobie.

He is survived by his honey, and wife, of 40 years, Sylvia; their daughters Trista (Mike) Mullin, Amanda (Shane Willoughby) McRobie; and his “boys” Denver and Shorty. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Emilie Schwarzinger; sister Grace “Gracie” (Mike) Petty; brother Bryan McRobie; brother-in-law John (Janice) Schwarzinger and other loving relatives and many friends made throughout his life.

David had been retired for a couple years and loving every minute. After over 30 years of service at Land O’Lakes in Kent, his days were now completely focused on enjoying all the things in life that made him the happiest. He was a hard-working man and always came through to provide for his family. Even in retirement, he never stopped, and if anything, strived harder to find ways to take care of his girls.

David and his wife, Sylvia, had recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. They had met for the first time at David’s company picnic and left together that day on his motorcycle, literally driving off into the sunset and never looked back. Their love story was beautiful, real and a testament to love each other through good times and bad. Life is tough, but they were tougher. David and Sylvia built a beautiful life and family together. With both of them being retired the last several years, their love became more evident than ever during that time. Life slowed down just enough to give them the opportunity to grow closer and share the sweet, simple moments in each other’s company that can be missed during the hustle of every day life working full-time and opposite shifts. They had an adorable connection full of playful banter and laughter. They were each other’s “honey” and other half.

Lovingly known as “Papa Bear” or “Pod Bean” – David was an amazing dad to his daughters, Trista and Amanda. Although David worked long days and nights to help make ends meet for his family, he always found time for his girls throughout their lives. Going fishing, four wheeling, playing pool in the basement and sharing stories all night by a fire in the backyard will be just a few special memories they will cherish. Even with his daughters now being adults, David was always there, being the strong, reliable “Papa Bear” they looked up to and loved all their lives. Pod Bean was just a ring away to drive over to help with house repairs and would always take the time to pop the hood of the car before the visit was over to make sure it had everything it needed to keep them safe. David was an incredible man that his daughters looked up to, admired and loved immensely. And David couldn’t be prouder of his son-in-laws, Mike and Shane. He loved them both and took comfort in knowing they would take care of his daughters.

David wasn’t only a “jack of all trades”, but he was a master of them all. And he never hesitated to help people. There was never an obstacle or problem brought before him that he couldn’t fix or find a solution for. David always knew how to save the day and if not, he’d say “Let me think on it” and, being a man of his word, in no time he was back with a plan.

To know David, was to love David. He truly was one of a kind in all the best ways. He had a loving smile, a hearty laugh and the best hugs. He will be remembered as a good man. A man that loved his family and gave everything he had for them up until his last moments. A husband that was loved beyond measure and no amount of time together could ever possibly be long enough. A father that was adored by his daughters that will pick up where he left off to ensure all the hopes, dreams and goals he had left for his family are accomplished, which began with the garden that they finished planting in his memory the next morning from his passing.

Visitation will be held Tuesday July 2nd from 4 to 6 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home with a celebration of life service beginning at 6 PM.

There will be an additional celebration of life later in the month for friends and family to have more time to gather together to share stories. It will be held on July 20th from 1 to 4 PM at Sandyville Eagles, 4296 Cross Roads Rd NE, Magnolia, OH 44643.
