David J. Schoonover

David J Schoonover, 85, passed away on April 23, 2024. He was born on November 21, 1938 the son of the late James and Pauline Schoonover of Thomas, West Virginia. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and Carpenters Trade School. He was employed with Akron Floors, Canton Floors, and Tom's Carpet Barn.
David was a member of Ralph Huff VFW Post #1062 and the American Legion in Cuyahoga Falls. He was also a member of Tow Path Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed many sporting activities especially bowling, golf, football and his Cleveland Browns. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, being quick to smile, a dedicated hard worker, much love in his heart, and always proud of his family. David had many accomplishments but his greatest was his love for his family.

He will be reunited with his beloved wife of 42 years, Marcia Schoonover (Rauch); and sister Jeanine Bailey.

David is survived by his loving family, daughters Lynn (Bruce) Kim, Lorrie (Steve) Shaffer, Vicki (Ben) Hazelett, Paulie (Phil) Heislman and Renee Schoonover; grandchildren Buddy (Lorie) Kim, Angela Batton, Matthew Shaffer, Michael (Tiffany) Kim, Andrew Shaffer, Cody (Sydney) Heislman, and Zachary Heislman; great-grandchildren Kendra, Marissa, Ronnie, Michael, Maverick, and Emeric; special friend June Stalnaker; and many other relatives and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at West Hill Baptist Church (605 N. Revere Rd., Fairlawn 44333) with Pastor Aaron Varner officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the church in David's memory.
