David Sylvester Shaner

David Sylvester Shaner, "Dave", age 87 of Uniontown, Ohio, died on August 2, 2022.
He was born on April 23, 1935 in Leechburg, PA, the son of the late Glenn and Eleanor (nee Miller) Shaner.
Dave was an honorably discharged US Army National Guardsman, he served in the reserves.
Dave loved the outdoors, going fishing, hunting and spotting animals. He loved going to garage sales and antiquing and selling things at Hartville Flea Market. His greatest joy and love of his life was his late wife, the former Joan Shaffer, whom he married on December 20, 1958; they traveled extensively and were extremely committed to each other. They enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving for over 50 years and had 40 people in attendance most years.
Survivors include their two sons, Lake (Valerie) Shaner and Ladd (Ann) Shaner; his grandsons, Jason (Janelle), Ryan (Frances), Chad, Ashton, Aubrey and Gavin (Fiancee, Angela) Shaner and Adam and Benjamin (Fiancee Alena) McGavin; and his great-grandchildren, Everett, Oliver and Addelyn "Addy" Shaner.
In addition to his wife, who preceded him in death on October 1, 2018, his sisters also are deceased, Marjorie Miller and Muriel Rupert.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where family and friends may gather from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
