David Darnell Templeton went Home to the Lord on November 26, 2022, at age 55, with family at his side.
David was born to Willie Templeton, Sr. and Martha (Isaiah) Adams on May 10, 1967, in Akron, Ohio. David graduated from Firestone High School in 1985. He was a member of Grace Cathedral, where he enjoyed singing in the Choir and a Ministry trip to Africa. Then David went on to gain employment at the Cathedral Buffet and WBNX TV 55, where he remained a dedicated employee for more than a decade. David also worked with Rite Aid for several years. Upon leaving his position with WBNX TV 55 and Rite Aid he went on to work with Family Video, where in 2004 he met his wife, Barbie. David would always say that his best place of employment was Family Video because it is where he was blessed with a Family.
In September of 2006 David and Barbie were married. He was a dedicated, loving husband and father. He gained employment with GoJo Industries in 2008. They continued to reside in Akron, Ohio where they raised their children, Marcus, Kendra, Darshan and their bonus daughter, Ja'Nyla. David actively volunteered in the community as he was the Director of Firestone Park Youth Basketball League for 5 years. His heart's desire was to Coach and teach basketball to youth. He took much pride and honor in what he was placing in the lives of the children.
David and his family became members of H. Templeton Ministries in 2016, later to join the Youth Ministry Team and in 2018 David became a Minister at H. Templeton Ministries where he served his church and the community until 2022. David's love for the Lord was abundant and his life reflected such.
David had an unwavering faith in God. He was a gifted teacher. His gift made room for him wherever he went, he never met a stranger, and could always hold a conversation. Sports seemed to be his "Universal Language." His ministry was far reaching and diverse. David did LIFE with people from various cultures and backgrounds. He listened and he talked (A LOT). He laughed, and made others laugh. He didn't always tell people where he stood as far as his faith, but they knew by his conversations and his demeanor - His life was his Witness.
David's infectious smile made it easy to love and admire him. His love for his family and friends always resembled the love of Christ with everything God put in him. David left a Godly impression on any path he crossed, and he will truly be missed by many!
He had a strong bond with all of his twelve siblings. He loved each one like they were his only one! David strived to be involved and present in every area of their lives and the lives of their children. The love and respect he carried for his parents was unmatched. David took much honor and pride in being dedicated, consistent and present for all of them.
