Together Forever
Deborah Gaye (Hammond) Fenton, age 69, went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Ron on February 17, 2021.
Born on March 10, 1951, Debbie lived in Akron for most of her life. A graduate of Garfield High School, she was a hardworking small business owner; she worked for the family moving business (her packing skills were unparalleled) and eventually became co-owner of Hammond Movers and then owner of B&B Moving.
Debbie had great faith and was an active member of Christian Faith Fellowship. She truly lived her life as a follower of Christ's example. She always saw the good in each individual she knew. Fellow worshippers will undoubtedly miss her generous spirit, her kind encouragement, and her potato soup.
Debbie was a talented painter, who even endeavored to paint a beautiful large-scale landscape scene on her garage door on Rowe Street. She was also a gifted storyteller, spellbinding any listeners with entertaining or inspiring stories from her own life.
Debbie loved her family deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth "Nan" and Bo Hammond; and her sisters, Peggy and Carol. She is survived by her daughter, Mandy Walden (Jeffrey Lachina); grandchildren, Nicolas, Jacqueline, Francesca, and Natalia; stepdaughter, Regina Meredith; Uncle Fred and Aunt Jean King; close cousin Pat (Bill) Maddox; dear friend, Debbie Selby; nieces and nephews, Vikki, David Bruce, Vallery, Robin, and Charles; and many wonderful great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and her church family. A special thank you to her friend and caregiver, Bobby Miller.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Debbie's longtime friend, Pastor Woodin will hold a memorial service after church services on February 28, 2021, at noon, at Christian Faith Fellowship, 2240 Goodyear Blvd., Akron, OH 44305
