Della Louella {Perkins} Knecht, 99 years young of Tallmadge pass away on Saturday June 17, 2023 at The Colony Health Care Center. Della was born in Smith Township, Ohio on February 10, 1924, to her parents, Walter and Etta {Groves} Perkins now deceased. Della was happily married to Ernie Knecht for 53 years until his death. Also preceding her in death were two older sons Carl and Charles; her siblings Evelyn Wright, Catherine Whiteley and Oliver Perkins; step-sons Edward and John Knecht.
She is survived by her children: sons, Tim, Jim, Mark, and daughter, Nancy. In addition, there are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also is survived by sister, Barbara Hopper and brother, Bill Perkins.
Other family members and close friends to Della are step-daughters Susan (Denis) {Knecht} Arnold and Debbie Knecht, and especially her loving friend Teri Florek.
Della grew up on a farm in rural Belmont County, Ohio along with several siblings. She enjoyed sewing, creating crafts, and making quilts. Often, she could be found at craft shows displaying her creations. She loved gardening and attending to her flowers.
She worked as a seamstress at Akron City Hospital for many years until her retirement. She continued to work until her late 80s at a neighborhood restaurant because she loved being around all the activity of people and children. She continued to help others at her church and participated in many church activities. She also took care of her husband until his death.
She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of The Chapel in Green. She was the oldest member of the church.
She will be missed.

Della will be laid to rest privately with her husband Ernie at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
