Delman E. "Del" Hillyard, 89, went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2002. He was a machinist with Diamond Crystal Salt until he retired in 1978. Delman loved his family, the Cleveland Indians and Chief Wahoo, Gospel Music and people. He served as manager of the Cleveland Polo Club in the 1960's and traveled the country with his wife to listen to his favorite Southern Gospel groups. Preceded in death by his daughter, Mabel Hausch; sisters Marie Dill and Irene. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Mary; his daughters, Mary Ellen Sayre and Cindy (Harold) Pickens; grandchildren Jill (Jim), Leah (Travis), Lena (Clark), Eric, Del (Amy) and Larry; two great-grandchildren; brother Frank (Asie); sisters Stella Spahr, Myrtle Jane and Frances (William) Dill; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends both near and far. Friends may call Sunday from 3 - 8 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Phil Hulgin officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank all the nursing personnel who helped care for him.
