Dennis Alan Deterling

Dennis Alan Deterling, 77, of Springfield Twp, passed away on November 15, 2023. He was born in Akron on April 24, 1946 to the late Albert and Grace Deterling.

Dennis spent his entire career as an electronics and repair technician, retiring from Sears after 40 years of service. He could fix just about anything and his children and grandchildren frequently benefited from his expertise. Denny also loved all kinds of music. He ran the Denny "D" Show for decades, providing DJ sounds at countless weddings, proms, and parties. He also loved attending concerts and he was a terrific dancer.

Denny met the love of his life, Judith "Judy" Ferrell on a blind date in January of 1966 and they married eight months later. They were devoted to each other for 57 years, raising their two children and enjoying their grandchildren.
He had a great sense of humor, a soft spot for animals, and a love of sci-fi movies. There will only ever be one Denny "D", and he will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Judy, Denny is survived by his loving children, Michael (Robyn) Deterling and Donna (Brian) Boucher; grandchildren, Evan Boucher, Grace (Morgan) Robinson, Claire Boucher, and Nathaniel Boucher; numerous in-laws, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 12 noon with visitation from 10 a.m. until the start of services, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Pastor Ken Baker officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
