Derik Wane Gilpin
January 25, 1971 — February 10, 2021
Derik Wane Gilpin, age 50 of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Brimfield, Ohio, passed away on February 10, 2021.
He was born on January 25, 1971 the son of Dennis Wane Gilpin of Panama and Linda (nee Snodgrass) Colley of Brimfield, Ohio.
Derik was a 1989 graduate of Field High School in Brimfield. He was a semi-pro volleyball player. Derik was a free spirit that enjoyed life to the fullest.
He also served our country in the US Air Force.
In addition to his parents, Derik is survived by his maternal grandmother, Lourena Snodgrass; his siblings, Aundria (Steven) Kazar, Carman Rashid, William Hershey and Chad Colley; and several nieces and nephews.
Derik was preceded in death by his step-father, William Colley; his grandparents, James Snodgrass, Tilman and Janice Gilpin.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron where a private family memorial service will follow.
