God came down Thursday, February 20, 2025, and placed wings on Diamond Marqueé Mullen, to fly her home to take her place in her heavenly mansion He built just for her, bringing Diamond to a new season for her life’s legacy.
Diamond Marqueé Mullen, born on August 10, 1995, to the late Diane Short (Mother), whom she loved and cherished, and Marcus Mullen (Father) in Akron, Ohio. Diamond lived with her Dad, Marcus from the age of 2-1/2 until she was 18 years old.
Marcus and Diamond moved to Columbus, Ohio when Diamond was fifteen. She graduated from Beachcroft High School in Columbus, Ohio. She worked as a health aide for most of her adulthood.
Diamond enjoyed cheer leading and cooking, baking being her passion, which she inherited from her Mom, Diane, and both of her grandmothers, Rose Short and Johnnie Mae Mullen.
Diamond was always very caring, and would give the clothes off her back to anyone in need. She prided herself for being a true friend to all, especially to everyone she knew in her life, growing up. She attributed this from the love given to her in her own life growing up.
At the age of 23, Diamond became a Mom, giving birth to a beautiful, highly intelligent, caring, conversationalist daughter, Ka’Mari Sky Mullen-Phillips, who has always been the love of her life.
Diamond was preceded in death by her Mother, Diane Short, Sister, Ginger Mullen, Grandmothers, Rose Short, Johnnie Mae Mullen, Great-Grandfather / GreatGrandmother, John and Luvenia Mullen, Uncles, Carl, John and Harold Mullen, Aunts Ginger Short, Annie Laura Mullen, and Cousin Leonte Hobdy.
Diamond leaves to cherish her life/legacy daughter, Ka’Mari Sky Mullen-Phillips, Father & Step-Mother, Marcus & D’Juan Mullen; Brothers Marques Mullen, Devin Hubbard, Darnell Watson; Sisters Joy Caldwell, Aaliyah Hashim, Brittany Stancil; Special Moms, Tanya and Destiny; Uncles Lewis Short, Michael Mullen (Latasha Somler), Hakim Hashim, Sanford (Theresa) Prude, Marshall (Tracy) Prude, Michael Prude. Aunts Denise Short Bryant (Robin aka Rob), Mylisia Short, Samoria Mullen; Gloria Moss, Vivian (Leonard) Haslam, Linda Mullen, Valetta Sanders, Ermise Bailey, Tori Hopson, Lydia Wright Rucker (Derek Rucker), Leola May.
Diamond also leaves to cherish her life/legacy a host of cousins and close friends and acquaintances, as well as her family in Columbus, OH, The Browns, who helped to care for her during her residency while growing up in Columbus.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Road Akron, OH 44305). Diamond's Memorial Service will immediately follow the visitation until 1:30 P.M.
Following her service at the funeral home, a repast will be held at Ed Davis Community Center (730 Perkins Park Dr. Akron, OH 44320).
