On Monday, August 28, 2023, Dianna L. Balog (Duncan) passed away peacefully at home. She was an angel on earth who got her wings.
Dianna was born on July 15, 1946, in Portsmouth Ohio to John & Florine (Peyton) Duncan. She graduated in 1964 from Portsmouth High School then was recruited to the FBI from 1964-1966.
In Dianna's career, she was a licensed Insurance agent. She worked for Seibert Keck Insurance, Jack Kohl Insurance and John Davison State Farm.
Dianna was a firefighter with the Rootstown Volunteer Fire Company beginning in 1989. She loved being part of Safety town, the Fire Prevention Education Programs at Rootstown Elementary School and was a judge for the Ohio State Fire Marshall Coloring contest. She enjoyed working the Portage County Fire Fighter Booth every year at the Portage County Fair. Being a firefighter was one of her greatest loves.
Dianna was passionate about all animals. She sledded and showed her 3 Siberian Huskies and was a member of the Siberian Husky Club of Greater Canton. She loved her Paso Fino horses and showed them also.
She was a woman of faith and a member at the Rootstown Church of Hope. She served for many years in the Puppet Ministry, another of her great loves.
Her greatest love of all was her family. She loved hosting the holidays and welcomed anyone to be part of her celebrations, her favorite Holiday of all was Christmas - Let us all toast Christmas each year with a glass of Baileys to keep the tradition going in her honor.
She is survived by her beloved partner of 18 years, Bruce Spurling; her daughter Cindy (Dan) Coontz; grandchildren Ann Allshouse and Danielle (Ian) Pfleiderer; great grandchildren Richie Haas, Mary Allshouse, Kora Smith, and Lily Pfleiderer. Bruce's Children Jeremy, Heather, Chad, and David and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Please join us on Saturday, September 16 from 12-4 to celebrate her beautiful life at her home at 5060 Pheasant Ave, Rootstown Ohio. Food will be served at 1 PM and services will begin at 2 PM. Please come and share your memories with us all.
