Dickie W. Oxford (Dick)
Dickie W. Oxford, 80, of Akron, passed away October 19, 2014. He was born in Akron on July 25, 1934 to the late Ora and Cora Oxford. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He devoted his life to raising his two grandsons. Family was very important and he enjoyed reunions and holiday parties with all his relatives. In his free time he enjoyed camping and fishing. An avid dog lover, Dickie spent many years breeding chihuahuas and terriers.
In addition to his parents, Dickie was preceded in death by his sisters, Doneth Hawk and Ruby Oxford. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Gladys Bauman, Norma (Donald) Shaffer, Robert (Doris) Oxford, and Hope (Dick) Paulus; grandsons, Anthony and Joseph Oxford; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2014 from 5-7 followed by a 7:00 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
