Dixie Ellison, 72, of Akron, passed away May 20, 2011. She was born on March 6, 1939 in Ashland City, Tennessee to the late Robert Malcolm and Loreina Perry. She graduated from South High School. Dixie loved traveling to the beach and to visit relatives in Tennessee. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. Dixie was a mother to countless people and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Guy Ellison; children, Kelly (Michael) Hunter, Shelly (Carl) Conner, Timothy (Eva) Ellison, and Theresa Ellison; brother, Robert M. Perry, Jr.; grandchildren, Kristin, Ryan, Marisa, Timothy, Samuel, and Cole; and numerous other relatives including special niece, Debbie (John) Carmichael. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Davies officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or LifeBanc.
