Doil Percie Greathouse,94, of Akron, passed away peacefully December 10, 2020 at City Hospital Hospice of Summa from complications of COVID 19. She was born on September 4, 1926 in Spencer, West Virginia to James and Laura Greathouse. Doil graduated from Spencer High School at age 16. Her family moved to Akron and Doil's first job was at the Mayflower Hotel. She was later employed by Cardinal Plastics for many years. Doil married her sweetheart from Spencer, George Greathouse, when he returned home from the Army. They started a family74 years ago, which is now five generations.
Doil lived a simple life, enjoying gardening, canning, cooking, country music, trips back home to West Virginia, Alaska, and Hawaii. Above all, she loved spending time with family. She resided at Falls Village. Doil was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George of 57 years; infant daughter, Cynthia Lynn; daughter, Judy Kruger Kura (Alex); grandson, Randy Greathouse; great-grandson, Randy Greathouse Jr.; brothers, Earl, Frank, William, and Harold; and sister, Vernie Rowan.
She is survived by sons, Larry (Pauline), Dale (Cheryl), and Tim; daughters, Shirley (Don) Testa, Eula (Chet) Harlin, and Loretta (Duke) Goodrich; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Thanks to nephew, J.D. and wife Marcella for their thoughtful visits. Special thanks to her granddaughter, Shannon White, we had peace of mind knowing she was there for mom with loving care and understanding.
No services are scheduled. Doil will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, spend time with your family.
