Don Edward Thorn

Don Edward Thorn, 67, of Akron, passed away on November 7, 2021. He was born in Akron on July 15, 1954 to the late George and Mary Thorn. Don retired from a career as a machinist. He was very creative and enjoyed gardening, oil painting, photography, and playing the guitar. He enjoyed participating in the Northeast Ohio Rocks group and painted and placed rocks in parks and sites all over the state. He loved nature and bred Monarch butterflies for many years. Although Don led a quiet life, he always loved visiting with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Harmon; and nephew, Brian King.
He is survived by his son, Don G. (Sara) Thorn; stepchildren, Brandy McCracken and Larry (Jonnelle) McCracken; siblings, Kathy (Jerry) Baker, Laura (Dave) McKay, Alice Surgeon, and Paul (Robyn) Thorn; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves his lifelong friend, John Lewis.
