Donald E. Carpenter

Donald E. Carpenter, 87, passed away peacefully September 28, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. He served the community as a member of the Lakemore Fire Department for many years and retired in 1984 as Assistant Chief. He also served the Lakemore Community as a Councilman. He was a member ot the Lakemore United Methodist Church for several years where he served as the Superintendent of Sunday School. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1984 after 40 + years of service. He was a member of the Junior O.U.A.M. Lodge and the Amos Englebeck Masonic Lodge. He was a WWII veteran serving as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a devoted family man and is preceded in death by his beloved son, David and sisters Kathryn and Ganel. Donald is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Donna; sisters Mary and Vivian (James), his daughters, Judy Olson and Janice Carpenter; his grandchildren, Chris, Todd (Veena), and Derek (Sara) Olson and Melissa Carpenter; and his great-granddaughter, Ally Olson. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. TODAY at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. with Rev. Jeff Gindelsberger. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the service begins.
