Donald F. Hartney
Donald F. Hartney, 77, of Akron, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2008. Don was born in Akron on January 16, 1931 to the late Charles and Lucille (Gilbert) Hartney. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Mason. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox after 37 years of service. In his free time, Don enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. He will always be remembered as a warm and generous person and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Edna M. Hartney; daughters, Patricia (Jerry) Yoder and Donna King; grandchildren, Tracy (Jason) Martin, Jonathan (Holly) Hoover, Amy (Todd) Baker, Sandy (Paul) Agens, and Donnie Reese; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Carlson; brother, Jim Hartney; sisters-in-law, Marie (Joe) Kalt, Nancy Burkett, and Peggy Hartney; and many relatives and friends. Family and friends may call TODAY from 6-9 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m., Rev. Willie Smith officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
