Donald R. Hayes

Donald R. Hayes, "Don" 83, of Malvern, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 16, 2020. He was born on March 11, 1937 in Altoona, PA to the late Gladys Hayes (Sanders) and Donald R. Hayes, Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the 4th Armor GP APO 757 Unit. Don retired from BF Goodrich after 28 years in the rubber industry. Don was a brother of the Scottish Rite Masons, an avid lover of flying planes and enjoyed the peacefulness of nature.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Hayes; father, Don Hayes; brother, James Hayes; sisters, Gloria Poe and Nancy Johnson; and wife, Mary Hayes. Don leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Robert Hayes (Jackie); daughter, Brenda Gainer (Mike); brother Bob Hayes (Kathy); sister, Debbie Troyer (Dave); grandsons, Nicholas Ciriello and Curtiss Robinson and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 24 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Greenlawn Memorial Park (in the Ivy Chapel), 2580 Romig Road, Akron, Ohio 44320 with the funeral service immediately following. Due to COVID and social distancing, we will have limited seats for the service, but do invite all to attend the showing at the Ivy Chapel.
