Donald "Don" Howe passed away peacefully on November 19, 2021 with his family by his side.
Donald was born on July 31, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio to Julian and Martha (Law) Howe. He grew up in Youngstown and in the 6th grade, moved with his parents to a small farm in Greenford. He lived in Greenford the rest of his life.
Don enlisted in the Marines in 1942 and served the remainder of WWII. He re-enlisted into the reserves during the Korean Conflict.
Don was a bricklayer by trade, working various construction jobs, and then at Youngstown Sheet and Tube and LTV Steel. After his retirement, he worked for several years at the Salem Busy Beaver, where he was know as the "paint guy."
He was an active member of the Greenford Christian Church, and a longtime member of the Green Township Volunteer Fire Department. In 2019 he was presented with a 70 years membership award by the Masonic Grand Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 64 years, Nancy, infant daughter, great-grandson, Wilson Patterson, and two infant brothers.
Don is survived by his three daughters, Beverly (Daniel) Berger, Cheryl (Don) Kramer, and Kathy (Paul) Gause, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.
Per his wishes, there will be no services.
Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to Greenford Christian Church, or Community Hospice.
