Donald J. Lias
Donald J. Lias, 82, of Mogadore, passed away December 9, 2008 after a lengthy battle with COPD. Don is now joined with his wife Marie, who passed away two weeks ago. He was born in Akron on March 12, 1926. Don served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Munda. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber. Don was a life member of Firestone VFW 3383 and the Army Navy Club 250 and a member of the Eagles 555. He had many interests, including golfing, dancing, partying, and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Grace; wife, Marie; and five siblings. He is survived by his children, Jackie Hogue, John (Melissa) Copeland, and James (Cindy) Copeland; siblings, William, Harold, Raymond, Patrick, Helen, and Caroline; ten grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m. and Monday from 1 - 1:30 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. With Rev. Eloy Pacheco officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park with military honors provided by Firestone VFW 3383.
