Donald R. Kunselman, 84, went home to Heaven on November 23, 2016. He was born in Akron, OH in 1932 to the late John and Leola (Burr) Kunselman. Donald was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran serving in the Korean War, earning a purple heart and was recommended for the silver and bronze stars. He retired from Ohio Edison after 36 years of service.
Married for 63 years, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marlene Rae (Chew) Kunselman; brothers, John Dale "Bud" and Fred; and sister, Mary Jane Duty. He is survived by sons, Don (Reba) and Alan (Martha); daughter, Lori (Emil) Chadima; grandchildren, Brett, Grant, Craig, Curtis, Cara, Emil D. II and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Augustine, Sterling and Emil Paul II; and sister, Bonnie (Larry) Vancamp.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice House of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, OH 44514.
