Donald MacAfee, age 92, of Akron, Ohio passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013. He was born on May 14, 1921 to the late William and Clara MacAfee. Donald attended Georgetown University and worked as a regional supervisor for Holiday Inn hotels. He belonged to Akron Garden Club and was a believer in charity and self-reliance. He will be remembered as a lover of life and was compassionate to animals.
Donald is survived by his wife of 25 years Loma Kay (nee Powell), children Drew (Barb) MacAfee and Marcy MacAfee both from Washington state, stepdaughter Linda (Vince) Choken, stepsons; John (Linda) Porzio, Chad Coots, Jamie (Renee) Coots and Shane (Susana) Porzio, grandchildren; Bridgett (Tom) Frodsham and Kristine (Landon) Norton, great grandchildren; Emmy, Maddy, Taylor and Nick, step-grandchildren Lucy and Ava Choken, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 31 years, Mary MacAfee.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. Friends may call 5:00 to 6:30 pm, prior to the service.
