Donald Robin Motz, passed away on November 24, 2011 at the age of 58. Don was born in Akron on December 28, 1952 and was the third son of Eldon and Betty Motz (whom he survived).
Don was a life long resident of Akron who worked at and retired from UPS.
He is survived by his three brothers, Rick (Linda), Frank (Randi) and Dave (Janey); Don also leaves four nephews and nieces, Eric, Aaron, Allison and Rachel, who were very close to him.
Don graduated from Ellet high school and attended the University of Akron. He was a champion cross country runner and a great sports enthusiast. Don was a walking encyclopedia of baseball and football statistics and was an avid Indians and Browns fan. He will be fondly remembered as a player and the manager (Casey) of the famous Bittman Stars baseball team which won numerous softball championships in the 1970s.
Don was a candle who burned too brightly and will be missed by his brothers who loved and cared for him all his life.
Calling hours will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, Saturday, November 26, 2011 from noon to 2 p.m. Family and friends will gather afterwards at 356 Strader Avenue, Akron OH, 44305.
