Donald George Nye

Donald G. Nye passed peacefully into heaven, in the comfort of loving family, at home on May 18, 2021. Don was a lifelong resident of Akron. Don graduated from Akron East and then furthered his education at the University of Arizona and The University of Akron.

Don began his working career in the Tax Map Department of the Summit County Engineers Office. Don's passion for cars and career took on a service orientation when he became the Service Manager at JCPenney Auto Center and then Firestone Auto Center. In the later stages of his work-life Don enjoyed working with clients while with Western Reserve Insurance and The Copeland Company.

Don loved helping others find how to improve their self and loved coaching baseball in Goodyear Heights, where he was a longtime hot stove coach and league officer. Don was a member of Community Church in Tallmadge, Ohio, where he loved sharing his faith with his loving wife Linda.

Don and his wife Linda were married 53 years and shared many memories with their sons Danny and David. The last 25 years he was even more blessed with his three grandchildren, Natalie, Marissa, and Collin.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Ruth Nye, along with his brothers William, Tony, and Greg. A Celebration of Life will be held for Don on June 5, 2021, at Community Church in Tallmadge, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m.
