Donald R. Oeltjen

Donald R. "Oly" Oeltjen, age 82, passed away at his home in Akron on March 7, 2013. He was born on June 20, 1930 to the late Ernest and Rosella Oeltjen. Oly graduated from Ellet High School in 1948 before serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a Machinist from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 42 years. He was member of the Sons of Herman, the Masonic Lodge for 50 years and a proud former Boy Scout.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia (Wylie) Oeltjen; sons, Mark and David of Akron and Jeff Oeltjen of Homestead, FL; 3 grandchildren, Marisa, Scott and Erica; sister, Shirley Hall; brother-in-law, Gene Wylie; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. At his request, no public services will be observed. Memorial contributions in Oly's honor may be made to any charity of donor's choice.
