Donald L. Smith

Donald L Smith passed away after a long illness at his home in Tallmadge, Ohio with his wife by his side. Don was 86 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents Lucille & Henry Smith of Akron, Ohio. Don is survived by his beloved wife Joan of 56 years & brother Hank (Sally )Smith of Barberton. Daughters Sandy ( Steve ) Russell, Kandace ( Franke ) Zollman & Kimberley (Joe). Special sister in law Gail Edwards. Sons Dennis (Maryann ) Brazelton , Rick (Michaele) Brazelton Robert Brazelton & Dave Brazelton. Many grandchildren & great grandchildren as well. Don retired from Ohio Bell after 30 years. Then went to work at IBH Interval Brotherhood for approx 17 years.

He enjoyed playing softball for Ohio Bell & many different teams & then joined the Silver League at age 60. Don & Joan enjoyed vacation spots in Canada, on Lake Milton & down in Florida. Don was very knowledgeable about so many different things. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix around the house. He loved doing yard work & riding his tractor.

Special thanks to the Hospice visiting nurses of Fairlawn & the Visiting Angels of Tallmadge. Family will receive friends on Wednesday July 25, 2018 from 5-7pm with the funeral service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Private burial service will be held on Thursday morning.
