Donald "Don" L. Underwood, age 64, passed away suddenly Friday, September 30, 2022, at the cabin. He was born to Okey and Roberta Underwood on July 28, 1958.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by; sister, Cynthia; brother, Daryll; daughter-in-law, Wilma Cuvelier; and great-grandson, Waylon Cuvelier.
He leaves behind his wife, Lynda; sons, Jim and Eddie (Brenda); daughters, Sylvia and Sheri (Ricky); siblings, Okey Jr. (Linda), Margaret (Rodger), Earl (Jackie), Guy (Anita), Vance (Susie); nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many many nieces and nephews.
He and Lynda attended Community Life Church in Mogadore, Ohio. Don was a great outdoors man. He loved to be at the cabin in the woods with family and friends. Don supported Sylvia in all of her Special Olympic events. He adored his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Don gave 110% to his job at Cut Rate Muffler and in later years at Martin Wheel.
Don had a gruff exterior that hid a kind heart, that kids and animals saw right away! We saw his kindness every time he helped us move or fixed our cars. We saw it every year at his 4th of July picnic. You might miss his sweet nature if you sat at a poker game or chess table with him, but he'd give you a hand shake or hug after he took your money. I imagine Daryll met him on the other side with his younger brother's taunt, "I promised Mom I wouldn't kick your ass!" We'll miss you!
Visitations will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305. Services will be held the following day, Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Gordon Hayberg officiating. Interment to Hillside Memorial Park will take place after the service.
