Donna Diane Ferris
Donna Diane Ferris, 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 4, 2015 with her husband, daughter and dogs by her side. She was born in Stella, Nebraska to the late Don Gilbert and Marjorie Silk. Donna retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years of service. She was a selfless, hardworking woman who loved to read. She also loved going on casino trips with her best friend, Michele. Donna was an excellent cook that loved to make people eat. She had a heart of gold, and would give her last penny to a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wanda and June; and step-son, Robert. Donna leaves to cherish her memory, husband of 32 years, Robert; son, Rob (Marci); daughter, Michele (Mike); step-daughters, Beth (Tom), Patricia (John), and Susan (Frank); 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Ann (Gene) and Phyllis; brother, Verl "Sonny"; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday December 8, 2015 from 4-8pm and funeral service will be on Wednesday December 9, 2015 at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Pastor Matt McLouth officiating. Interment Grandview Memorial Park. Donations can be made to St. Jude Hospital and the Billy Graham foundation.
