Donna King, 73, of Akron, passed away on October 19, 2023. She was born in Kent, Ohio on April 1, 1950 to the late Fred and Gertrude Wymer.
Donna retired from the human resources department for Giant Eagle after 20 years of service. After her retirement, she spent several years working at Walmart in Brimfield. She was a senior soldier of the Salvation Army Church in Akron.
Donna dealt with illnesses that eventually robbed her of her sight. Despite this, she still enjoyed playing computer games and online shopping, painting birdhouses, and reading the Bible with her magnifier. In 2021, she met Thomas King while he was delivering groceries to her. They struck up a friendship and married on October 28, 2021. They adopted their faithful dog, Lady, who became Donna's best friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Don, Alan, Judy; and stepson, David Coldwell.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Thomas King; stepchildren, Glenn (Karen) Coldwell, Bill (Tina) Coldwell and Jim (Kathy) Tenney; grandchildren, Brandy (Damon) Smoot, Carmen Tenney, Sophia Tenney, Heather Coldwell, and Jacob Coldwell; great-grandchildren, Giauna, Gordyn, and Draylen; sisters, Barbara and Jean; many nieces and nephews.
Per Donna's wishes, cremation has taken place. Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:30 am at Salvation Army Church, 190 S. Maple St, Akron, Ohio 44302.
