Donna M. Hanla, 88, of Akron, passed away November 1, 2009. Donna was born in Ashland, Ohio on October 18, 1921 to the late Irvin and Gladys Shick. Donna was a fan of bowling, tennis, and baseball. She bowled in a league for many years and was a WIBC member. While living at the Villas of White Pond, she was an active member of the social committee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hanla and sister, Evelyn White. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Cheryl Elie and Linda (Robert) Jones; son, Gary Hanla (Linda Roberts); grandsons, Joseph, Timothy, Daniel, and Aaron; great-granddaughter, Marie; and many other friends and loved ones. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., Pastor John Sederwall officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172.
