Sweet Donna Mae McClelland went home to be with the Lord February 9, 2021 at Akron City Hospital due esophageal complications she had been dealing with for over the past year and more recently COVID-19. Donna was born to Loneta (Sutfin) Markel and Paul Markel on January 27, 1935 in Ashland, Ohio.
Donna is survived by daughter, Carri McClelland (Davis), son Alan (Cathy) McClelland; two grand sons, John Davis and Matt Davis; and sister Harriet (Gary) Funkhouser. Donna was preceded in death by loving husband of 56 years, Harold H. McClelland and precious two sons, Steven McClelland and Paul McClelland.
Many sons and daughters say their Mothers were the best and it definitely goes without saying she was truly the best Mother and friend anyone could have ever imagined. She was one of the most generous and caring people our family and friends have known. Donna made friends easily because of her warmth towards others and being overall a great listener. Donna will be remembered as a kind, supportive and compassionate daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Donna worked for the Summit Developmental Disabilities Board in Akron, Ohio for over 15 years. She loved to help support adult individuals with developmental disabilities. Throughout her life, Donna was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Akron, Ohio. It was there that Donna demonstrated a selfless love and support for her cherished friends and community.
When growing up Donna enjoyed playing the organ for Nankin Community Church. In early years, Donna loved to cook for her family and friends, dance and listen to live bands with her husband, and camp with her family. In later years, Donna enjoyed watching the birds, spending time with her grandson, watching special shows with her daughter, and listening to her favorite singer from Sara Care of Belden Village.
May she rest in peace now with her husband, two children, and parents in heaven living in endless bliss and love.
