Donovan O. Brooks
Donovan O. Brooks, 84, of Akron, passed away October 30, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center. He was born August 4, 1923 in Akron, Ohio the late Cecil H. & Nellie L. (Crites) Brooks. Donovan was an Eagle Scout and later served in the Army and Navy during WWII receiving numerous awards. He enjoyed hunting and camping and was a member of the Open Road Camping Club. Donovan was a founder of the Wingfoot Bowman Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen K. (Montgomery) Brooks; brothers, John B. and Cecil H. Brooks; and grandson, Jason E. Watson. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Charlie) Miller, Brenda L. Maurer, Rebecca L. Hadlock (Jack) and Deborah K. (Randall) Hibbs; sons, David H. (Cindi) and Jerry P. (Becky) Brooks; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia (Harold) Shuster, Annabell Barker, Betty Davis and Donna (Frank) Westfall. A Memorial Service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. with Pastor Scott Campbell officiating. Inurnment will take place at 12:00 p.m., Monday at Hillside Memorial Park with Mogadore Post 8487 providing military honors. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home until the service begins. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Hospice Care Center for their excellent care.
