Dorothy A. Badgett

Dorothy A. Badgett, 82, of Akron, passed away on December 27, 2022. She was born on October 15, 1940, the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Mazur) Maxwell. She enjoyed being a member of many organizations such as, Nativity of Jesus Christ, Springfield Senior Center, Ohio Marching Units Association, American Business Women's Association - Summit Chapter, Orioles Ladies Auxiliary Nest 167, Chapparells Baton & Drum Corporation and F.O.P. Auxiliary #1. She had many achievements but her greatest was her love of her family.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Shorty" Badgett; and brother, Tom Maxwell.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Richard (Tracy) and Robert (Tammy) Badgett; grandchildren, Felisha (Dakota Bassett) Nicole Badgett and Justin Robert Badgett; brothers, Robert (Donna) Maxwell, Andrew Maxwell, Thomas (Sheila) Maxwell; nephews, Robbie (Rachel) Maxwell and Michael (Laura) Maxwell; great-nephew and nieces, Tyler, Casey, Elizabeth, Julie, Samantha and Chelsea; as well as many friends made at the Springfield Senior Center.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Diabetes Association.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (Jan. 4, 2023) from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 12:00pm with Rev. William Crockett officiating.

Interment will be held at North Lawn Memorial Gardens.
