Please click here to view.Dorothy (Dot) L. Baer, 89, of Munroe Falls, OH, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 14. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Dot was born on July 25, 1934, to Hettie and William B. English in Allegheny County, PA. After graduating from Tarentum High School, she worked for the Gulf Oil Corporation in Harmarville, PA until she married the love of her life, Theodore (Ted) E. Baer.
Dot and Ted raised three children. When their children were all school-aged, Dot began a job she truly loved, working as a teacher's aide at the Clarence Brown Intermediate Unit in Butler, PA. Through the many years until her retirement, she loved, taught, cared for, and uplifted her students.
At home, she was an exemplar to her children. She never preached, but her honesty, fairness, compassion, and quiet courage were a lesson to anyone who knew her!
In retirement, Dot did not slow down! A skilled and creative seamstress, she made beautiful outfits for her grandchildren; she also passed down her knowledge by teaching them how to sew. Amid golf league, bowling, and card club, she found time to preserve the bounty of Ted's gardens and frequently babysat her grandkids. What she loved most though, was spending time with family and friends.
Dot was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ted, his sister Evaline Swartzlander, her brother Richard English, her sister Beverly McWilliams, and her nephew Douglas Thompson. She is survived by her sister, Mary Katherine Conway, her children Cynthia, Mark, and Theodore, Jr., grandchildren Malinda and William Baer & John and Claire Trasorras, by nieces and nephews Ronna Weyandt, Brenda Borghi, Gay Lynn Warren, Rachel & Paul English, Gretchen Brimm, Patricia and Tom McWilliams, Richard and Jeffrey Baer, Polly Lewis, daughter-in-law, Karri Baer, and son-in-law, Juan Trasorras.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00pm, March 23rd, at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd 44305) where services will be held at 2:00pm with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.
