Dorothy Ann Berish

Dorothy Ann Berish, age 82 of Akron, Ohio, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 3, 1936 in Akron, the daughter of the late Russell and Leora (nee Swartz) Hamilton.

Dorothy was a 1954 graduate of East High School and a secretary for Thermal Products in Akron for many years. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her pond, she loved to weed. Dorothy was a former member of the Daughters of America and the Polish Legion Women's Auxiliary Chapter #32. She also was a Candy-Striper at Akron City Hospital for several years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband and best friend, Ronald Edwin Berish, Sr., whom she married on June 26, 1954; her children, Ronald E. Berish, Jr. and Diane (Martin "Tuna") Murphy; her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her brother also survives, Lawrence "Larry" (Roberta) Hamilton.

Other than her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her children, baby-girl Berish, Michael Berish, and Phillip Berish, Sr.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Chaplain Joseph Lee will celebrate Dorothy's life.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the Summa at Home Hospice for their loving care and support given to Dorothy during her time of illness.
