Dorothy Louise Gainer

Dorothy Louise Gainer, 88, a resident of the Akron area for 83 years, passed away September 8, 2006. She was born December 5, 1917 in Indiana to the late Asa & Beatrice Therma (Kaufman) Garinger. Dorothy was a member of East Market Street Church of God from age 5, where she served as Church Clerk for many years and also belonged to the Young At Heart Senior Group there. She was a bookkeeper for several local retail firms, managed a local Hallmark store, and after her retirement, provided home health care into her early eighties. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; brother, Richard Garinger; and sisters, Vera Garinger and Marguerite Haury. She is survived by her son, Bill (Linda) Gainer of Arlington, VA; daughters, Marilyn (Art) Kepler and Kathleen Gainer; grandchildren, Christina (John) Brakeman of Phoenix, AZ and Julie (Edward) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Nicholas and Emily; and sister, Beulah (Raymond) Lugli. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at East Market Street Church of God with Rev. O.L.
