Dorothy J. Gordon

Dorothy Jean Gordon of Akron Ohio went home to be with the Lord December 6, 2022. She was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on April 25th 1953 to the late Bennie Gordon Sr and Melvina (Odell) Gordon. She moved to Akron Ohio in 1972 attending East High School. She loved the game of softball playing for 20 plus years for the Zulu's, Different strokes and playmates, last playing under the coaching of the late James Roy Bickely Sr. Dorothy retired from Bridge Park Nursing and Rehab Facility in 2013. She attended Liberty Tabernacle serving on the usher board and kitchen committee until her heath no longer permitted. She is preceded in death by her son James Woodruff lll; life partner James Woodruff Jr.; Parents Bennie Gordon Sr. Melvina Gordon; Sister Shirley Ward; Brothers Sammie Gordon, Bennie Gordon Jr, Richard Gordon, Tommy Gordon and James Gordon.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories son Michael (Neidre) Gordon Sr.; Daughters Tiffany Gordon, Cynthia Gordon; Grandchildren Jabree (Larnell) Roberts, D'Ajah (Darsean) King, Michael Gordon Jr, Michael Brown Jr, D'Yana Partridge, Markell Brown, Martele Woodruff, Marshea Woodruff, Marjaz Woodruff; Great Grandchildren Darsean King ll, Larnell Roberts Jr, Kenyonn Kindall lll; Sisters Catherine (Willie) Ferguson, Mary Gordon, Queenie Edwards; she also leaves to cherish a host of family and friends.
Home going services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11am at Liberty Tabernacle 475 Frank Ave Barberton OH 44203, Pastor Phillip Risby officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10am until the time of service. Condolences may be sent to 1166 Sylvan Ave, Akron OH 44306.
