Dorothy Irene Sigman
Dorothy Irene Sigman, 93, of Akron, passed away August 17, 2011. She was born on April 25, 1918 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Howard Leroy Powell and Mary Elizabeth (Black) Powell. Dorothy retired from Akron General Medical Center after many years of working in the nursery. In her free time, Dorothy always kept busy and she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and cooking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Sigman; daughters, Patricia Louise Rhodes and Barbara Jean Holder; and eight brothers and sisters. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Beverly Kay Winland; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call TODAY from 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Kim Lawrence officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
