Dorothy Laughlin, 97, passed away February 8, 2016. Born in Sharon Center, Ohio, she was an Akron resident most of her life. One of 11 children, she grew up on the family farm before moving to Akron in 1939. Dorothy attended Akron Beauty School and worked as a hair stylist at Polsky's and Pioneer Beauty Shop. She was employed at Goodyear Tire as a parachute inspector during World War II. She was a prize-winning rose grower, past president of the Akron Rose Society, and a rose show judge. She was also a member of North Springfield United Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Don; and daughter-in-law, Barbara. She is survived by her son, Dale; and grandsons, Matthew of Akron and Michael (Kelly) of Severn, MD. Per her wishes, no services will be held and cremation has taken place.
