Dorothy "Dot" Snyder, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 10, 2021. She will be remembered as a great cook, baker, gardener, and collector of all things that sparkle. Her wit and wisdom kept friends and family entertained. Dot was a graduate of Springfield Twp. High School, where she met Milt and fell in love. She enjoyed volunteering her time and talents at Springfield Baptist Church and at Western Reserve Playhouse. She loved playing card games, especially euchre, at Springfield Senior Center. Dorothy retired from Springfield Schools where she was a cafeteria cook and custodian, and was proud of her tenure as president of the local OPSE union. Dorothy enjoyed working at the voting polls helping make democracy work.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Milt; daughters, Dawn (Rod) Chapman and Sue Snyder (Jim Gremba); son, Steven (Paulette) Snyder; brother, Tom (Polly Price) Burge; grandchildren, Erik Chapman, Elizabeth (Michael) Herston, Drew (Hannah) Snyder and Will (Cassidy) Snyder; great-grandson, Jasper; and "adopted" step-grandchildren, Justin, Robby, Brandon and Colton. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Orville Burge; brother, Sonny Burge; and sister-in-law, Millie Weaver.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Saturday, October 16 at Springfield Baptist Church, 1920 Krumroy Rd. in Springfield Township. Funeral service will begin at 4pm. Per her wishes, cremation will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Western Reserve Playhouse.
