Dorris Graham, 70, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2018. She was born in Yantley, Alabama on July 9, 1947 to the late Dempsey and Para Lee (nee Holcombe) Gaines. Dorris graduated from East High School in 1965 and she was one of the first members of her family to earn her Bachelor Degree in Education from the University of Akron. She retired as an educator who touched the lives of many students in the Akron area. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the East Oriental Alumni Association. Dorris enjoyed fishing, Bingo, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. In addition to her parents, Dorris will be dearly missed by her companion and friend, William Huff; children, John (Jackie) Graham Jr. and Sheana Graham; stepchildren, Doris (Douglas) Pleas, Rev. Tony (Paula) Graham, Aaron Walton, and Jerjuan Graham; siblings, Carylon (Milton) Johnson, Patricia (William) Smith, Calvenua "Noochie" (Lucious) Parish, and James (LaTona) Gaines; very special grandchild, D'Angelo Graham; very supportive former husband, Rev. John W. Graham Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A Homegoing service will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 12:00 noon with visitation for one hour prior at Macedonia Baptist Church, 940 McKinley Ave, Akron, OH 44306, Pastor Lorenzo Glenn officiating. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Flowers may be sent on Monday to Macedonia Baptist Church and condolences may be sent to 1324 Whitestone Ave, Akron, OH 44310.
