Dorsey Carroll Whited

Dorsey Carroll Whited, 83, of Springfield Twp, passed away on April 25, 2023. Dorsey was born in Gay, West Virginia on March 12, 1940 to the late Clate and Grace (Tuttle) Whited. He moved to Ohio in his youth and graduated from Springfield High School in 1959. Dorsey proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1965. He worked for Springfield Schools, retiring after 32 years. Dorsey was not one to stay idle and so after retirement, he spent the last 18 years working for Belts Lawn and Garden. He also picked apples at Stottler Orchard. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and small engine repair. Most of all, he loved spending quality time with his family and friends.
Dorsey will be dearly missed by his wife and the love of his life, Karen, whom he married in 1961; his three beautiful daughters, Carolyn Stottlemyer, Connie (Jeff) Price, and Sandra Whited; his six wonderful grandkids, Jason (Marc), Alicia (Pat), Sondra, Kyle (Emily), Cody, and Collin; 7 great-grandkids, Austin, Clayton, Miranda, Landon, Kyleigh, Eleanor, and Hank; siblings, Cliff (Ruth) Whited and family and Rita (Bob) Bailey and family; and many more relatives and friends, including Joel Robinson.
In addition to his parents, Dorsey was preceded in death by his sisters, Wilma Rhoades and Mary Pearl Whited; and great-grandson, Andrew.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
A procession will form at the funeral home on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dorsey's family.
