Douglas Likens passed away at his home on Saturday, December 14, 2013.
Doug was born on April 3rd of 1962.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jill Zuiderhoek.
Doug is survived by his father, James Likens; stepfather, Gary Zuiderhoek; brother, James Likens (Jeanette); sister, Wendy Lindrooth (Marshall); daughters, Alicia Bursac and Tricia Richards (Andy); granddaughters, Kylie Richards, Evelyn Richards, William Richards and Taylor Bursac.
Doug lived in Akron and was employed by his father, James Likens (Likens Painting and Texturing). He was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. Doug won a Golden Gloves boxing championship at age 15 and was very proud of this accomplishment. Despite ongoing personal struggles, Doug had an appreciation for his family; especially his daughters and grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Monday, December 23rd, from 4:30 to 7 PM at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with a memorial service to follow at 7 PM. Memorials may be made to the Hattie Larlham Foundation, 9772 Diagonal Rd., Mantua, OH 44255.
