Douglas Matthew Boyd, 44, of Akron, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 20, 2007. He was born May 21, 1963 in Akron, OH. Doug was a graduate of East High School, class of 1981 and worked at S. C. Manufacturing as a machinist for over 4 ½ years. He was a member of Ernest Angley's Grace Cathedral. He loved to golf, ride his Harley and help others. Doug would go out of his way for everyone and always saw the good in others; he had a great big heart. He was a loving husband, father and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed by everyone. Doug was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Hodgen; aunt and uncle, Irene and Jack Belt. He is survived by his parents, Don and Lil Boyd; brother, David Boyd; wife of 2 years, Kim Boyd; son, Jeff Sterling; daughters, Karrah Sterling and Olivia Linder; grandmother, Elva Hodgen; cousin, Richard (Cindy) Belt; in-laws, Don & Bert Rambler; many aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 9 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating.
