Douglas D. Rainey, Sr.
Douglas D. Rainey, Sr., 91, of Akron, passed away July 22, 2007. Douglas was born October 1, 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He was a member of Celebration Church (formerly Evangel Temple). In his free time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Douglas was preceded in death by his brother, Ethemer and sister, Berdetta. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alberta; children, Douglas (Charlene) Rainey, Jr. of Mogadore and Diana (George) Cole of Tennessee; brother, Horace (Elizabeth) Rainey of Oregon; grandchildren, Todd (Tammy) Rainey, Rodd (Amy) Rainey, Christine (Christopher) Mikolajczyk, Michelle (Randy) Davis, and Brian Cole; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Gideon, Liam, Abigail, Jason, Rodd Jr., Christine, and Aiden Rainey and Whitney and Jessica Davis. Funeral serivces will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., with Pastor Charles T. Hunt officiating.
