Doyle Wilbur Decker Sr.

Doyle Wilbur Decker, Sr., "Mr. D", age 89, of Lakemore, Ohio, died on November 12, 2019.
He was born on August 25, 1930 in Springfield Twp., Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Minnie (nee Kurtz) Decker.
Mr. D loved to play sports, he played sports for 8 decades. He played baseball, basketball, softball, bowling and volleyball.
He retired from Teledyne Monarch Rubber in 1988.
Doyle was an honorably discharged US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his children, Gerald (JoAnne) Decker, Robin Berkenstock, Susan Frasier, and Doyle W. (Lori) Decker Jr.; his 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. His brother also survives, Daniel (Mary) Decker.
Other than his parents, Doyle was preceded in death by his wife, the former Nellie Shepherd, on December 18, 1989, they were united in marriage on February 5, 1951; one granddaughter, Shannon Decker; his siblings, Leona Fox, Elson, Jim, Jay and Roy Decker.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday evening, November 16, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and again on Sunday morning, November 17, 2019 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron. During this time with the family, everyone will have the opportunity to speak, if they so desire.
Burial will take place privately on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.
