Dr. Joseph A. Anslovar, 86, of Akron, passed away on April 20, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1938 to the late Joseph and Mary {Yerman} Anslovar. He was preceded in death in 2023 by his beloved wife, Cherie.
Joe graduated from St. Joseph High School in Euclid, Ohio before attending medical school at Case Western Reserve University. While working as a doctor at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, he met Cherie Moose, who was working as a nurse. They married on July 17, 1965 and spent 58 wonderful years together. Joe spent 20 years working at Barberton Citizens Hospital, where he served in several positions, including Director of Medical Education, Vice President of Medical Affairs, and Chief Medical Affairs Officer. After his retirement in 1998, he enjoyed working at Barnes and Noble in Montrose.
Joe and Cherie made their home in Barberton, where they enjoyed raising their daughter, Amy. They were longtime members of St. Francis de Sales Parish. In his free time, Joe loved playing golf, watching sports, and reading.
Joe will be dearly missed by his beloved daughter, Amy; and several dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 10-10:30 a.m., immediately followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral service at the Office Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Romig Rd., Akron, OH 44320.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Parish, 3179 Kent Rd., Stow, OH 44224.
