Duane Lee Yerkey
July 14, 1944 — November 2, 2023
Duane Lee "Butch" Yerkey, 79, passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2023. Born in Akron, Ohio to Jess and Ruth Yerkey, he was a lifelong area resident. Duane was a talented machinist and gunsmith who enjoyed working in his shop, vintage motorcycles and engines, working his homemade sawmill and spending time with his children.
In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela; step-daughter, Karla Wilt; sister, Donna. He will be sadly missed by his children, Loren (Roberta) Yerkey, Dena Roberts, Liz Yerkey, Diane (Scott) Sprankle, Lester (DeLynn) Yerkey, Matt (Jen) Cannon; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Diane Taylor; many nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal services. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Duane's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
