Dwayne Lee Barton

October 5, 1968 — January 20, 2022

Dwayne Lee "Dewey" Barton, 53, of Tallamdge, Ohio departed from this life on Thursday, January 20, 2022. He worked at Ardmore in Akron, Ohio for over 20 years caring for clients wtih various disabilities. Dewey went above and beyond, providing exceptional care to his clients. He acquired the nickname "Dewey" because his young cousins couldn't pronounce the name Dwayne.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma (Shaffer) Barton in October 1996, his father, Howard Barton in December 2019 and cousin, Samuel Dean. Dewey leaves behind a loving sister, Susan (Brent) Colvin; niece, Lauren (John) Bonasso, nephew, Josiah Bonasso. He was especially close to his cousin, Ashley (John) Cunningham and their sons, John, Jr. and Jason. He has several special cousins, Bart (Beverly) Dean, Lindsey (Brian) Miller, Jeremy (Melissa) Dean and their children, Grace and Grant, Joshua (Rebekka) Dean and their children, Magnus, Amelia, Isaiah and Henrik, Douglas (Jackie) Scalf, Dave (Jodonna) Scalf and their children, Amanda (Ben), Megan (Bradley), Kendra and Makenah; Uncle David and Aunt Rose Scalf.

Dewey had a kind heart towards everyone, especially kids, disabled people and animals. He loved to laugh and tell jokes and he was quite the prankster. He loved Christmas, gaming, watching wrestling and football, building model cars, fishing and boating.

During the last four months of his life he resided with his cousins Beverly and Bart Dean of Atwater, Ohio. They opened their hearts and home to him. A heartfelt thank you for them for their love and care.

We will miss his smile and laughter. Rest in peace, my dear brother.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. His family will have a memorial at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Dewey's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
