E. Mellanee Lord (Hoffman), 89, passed away at her home on April 11, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Reta; husband, Raymond; daughter, Heather; brothers, Bill and Clyde; and sisters, Anna May, Elenora, and Mary Margaret. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Kline (Gary); grandsons, Keith Kline (Olivia), and Adam Conley (Kassie); granddaughter, Amanda Parrotta (Daniel); life-long friend, Cathy France (Reese); Hoffman and Lord nieces and nephews; and six decades of dance students and parents, many of whom became dear friends over the years.
Mellanee's greatest love was teaching dance. She touched countless lives in her six decades of teaching, becoming a friend to many of her students and their parents. Mellanee danced for most of her life from age nine to 82, and we have no doubt that she's dancing now in Heaven. She was the sole teacher of the Mellanee Dance Studio for 59 years, being fortunate indeed to make that her career. Mellanee also enjoyed drawing and writing poetry, and never missed working the "word" in the Beacon Journal.
Services and visitation for Mellanee will be private due to the current environment surrounding the coronavirus. Interment will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
